At Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County, volunteers are the heart of everything we do — and the GreyHeads are a shining example of that spirit.
Formed in 2001, this dedicated group of mostly retired men and women comes together every Thursday to lend their skills, time, and energy to Habitat projects across the county. From swinging hammers to painting walls, from repairing ReStores to supporting our builds, the GreyHeads have logged thousands of hours of service over the years.
But the GreyHeads aren’t just about construction — they’re about connection. Many have found not only meaningful volunteer work, but also lasting friendships and a strong sense of community. Their weekly gatherings are a mix of hard work, laughter, and the knowledge that together, they’re making a real difference for families in need of safe, affordable housing.
As one GreyHead put it, “It’s not just what we build, but who we build with.”
We’re proud to celebrate the GreyHeads and grateful for their ongoing commitment to Habitat Bergen’s mission.
