After several years away, Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County is bringing back our “Race to Build” 5K and 1-Mile Walk on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park, NJ.
Our 5K was once a community favorite event, but like many gatherings, it was paused during and after COVID-19. This year, we’re excited to revive it — and we’re inviting runners, walkers, families, and neighbors across Bergen County to join us
USATF – Certified Course
The event will feature a USATF-certified course as part of the Paul Miller Grand Prix Series. Runners of all levels are welcome, and we also have a 1-mile walk option for those who want a more relaxed pace.
Medals will be awarded to top male and female finishers in every 5-year age group, ranging from under 12 through 85+. With more than 100 medals being handed out, there are plenty of chances to celebrate achievement.
Most importantly, every dollar raised helps fund our mission. Proceeds from the 5K go directly toward building our newest Habitat home in Oradell and supporting critical repairs for local families. They also help cover the essential administrative costs that keep our nonprofit running strong — ensuring we can continue building, repairing, and serving families throughout Bergen County.
By participating, you’re not only running or walking, you’re helping build strength, stability, and shelter in our community.
